Tesla Inc. announced today that it is now hiring in India. Could this be the beginning of Tesla's in India? The company's official LinkedIn site lists thirteen job openings for Mumbai and Delhi. The move comes just days after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, and Narendra Modi , Prime Minister of India met at the White House. This was a crucial step for Tesla in order to enter the Indian Market.

Musk decided to delay plans due to the high import duties. The Indian Government has reduced the customs duties on cars over $40,000, from 110% to 70%. This could be the opportunity Tesla was waiting for.
His visit to India was planned weeks after the Indian government announced a new policy on electric vehicles under , which will give import duty concessions to companies that set up manufacturing units with a minimum of $500 million investment. This move is aimed at attracting global players such as Tesla.
Tesla jobs in India reveal that the company has a focus on establishing a customer support division and other backend operations. The EV company listed these openings on their LinkedIn page: Service Technician, Parts Advisor and Store Manager.

Tesla in India: Tesla hasn't revealed the route it will take to enter India. The company can apply for the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing Electric Passenger Vehicles in India (SPMEPCI), which requires a minimum investment of Rs 4,150 crores to establish a manufacturing facility in India. According to this scheme, a company must localise their components and parts at least by 25% by the third and 50% by the fifth years.
Musk was expected to visit India in 2022 and talk about setting up manufacturing plants and investing, but the trip was postponed. It seems the company is serious this time about entering the Indian market.
